2005

1. Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting engine).
2. Immediately after Step 1 press and release the gas pedal 3 times within 5 seconds.
3. If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator flashes

4. Turn the ignition off and start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.

2006-2010

With Driver Information Centre (DIC):
1. Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting engine).
2. Press the OPTION button on the DIC until ENGINE OIL MONITOR appears on the DIC screen.
3. Press the SET/RESET button to reset the system. The next screen indicates that the CHANGE OIL SOON message has been reset. If the vehicle has the up level DIC, when the gauges button is pressed and the OIL LIFE REMAINING mode appears, it should read 100% OIL LIFE REMAINING.
4. Turn the ignition off and start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.

Without Driver Information Centre:
1. Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting engine).
2. Immediately after Step 1 press and release the gas pedal 3 times within 5 seconds.
3. If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator flashes, the system is reset (if this does not happen, turn off the
engine and repeat steps).
4. Turn the ignition off and start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.

2011-2013

1. Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting engine).
2. Press the DIC menu button on the turn signal lever to enter the vehicle information menu. Use the thumbwheel to scroll through the menu items until you reach REMAINING OIL LIFE.
3. Press the SET/CLR button to reset the oil life to 100%.
4. Turn the ignition off and start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.

How do you reset oil service light indicator BMW 5 Series model E39.

  1. Ignition key must be off.
  2. Press and hold the trip odometer reset button in the instrument cluster (left button), and turn the ignition key to the first position.
  3. Keep the button pressed for approx 5 seconds until one of the following words appear in the display: “Oil Service” with “Reset”.
  4. The service due is shown with “reset” if the coded minimum consumption limit has been reached and resetting is possible. If “reset” is not shown, the minimum limit has not been reached and resetting is not possible.
  5. Press and hold the reset button again until the word “Reset” begins to flash.
  6. While the display is flashing, press the left button briefly to reset the service interval. After the display has shown the new interval the following will appear: “End SIA”.
  7. The system can only be reset again after  2.5 gal (10 liters) of fuel have been consumed.

How do you reset oil service light BMW 5 Series model E60.

Firstly with the ignition switched on, set the odometer trip meter back to zero by pushing it once.

Then switch the ignition back off again. I found this step was critical, otherwise I couldn’t get to the Service menu.

Now you are ready to go through the reset service light indicator BMW 5 Series E60 steps as follows.

  1. Switch the ignition on. So that the battery, Oil and Parking brake lights are displayed. And the key is ready to start the engine but dont actually start the car .

  6. After properly performing step-3, the system will be in the service menu mode. Use the push button (BC button) on the end of the left steering column switch (wipers, high/low beams) to scroll through the various service items.
  7. When the oil service light is displayed, press the BC button on the end of wiper switch. “Reset” should now appear in the display. Press and hold the BC button for 2-3 seconds. A small clock display will show as the reset is being performed.

How to reset oil service light BMW F10.

  1. Switch ignition to ON position, do not start the engine, push start engine/ignition button without depressing clutch/brake.
  2. Wait for the service  warning light to dissapear.
  3. Immediately after service reminder goes out, push & hold only button on bottom left of tacho /instrument display.
  4. Display will change and show brake pad wear indicator picture.
  5. Push and release same button again to scroll through menu.
  6. When you reach the engine oil warning light push & hold the button until option appears to reset interval.
  7. Push and hold, warning light will reset.
  8. Switch OFF the ignition and then on again to see if warning light has been reset.
